Ms. Kane has been practicing before state and federal courts for over 15 years. White Collar Criminal Defense
Ms. Kane specializes in representing individuals and businesses under investigation for or charged with unlawful business conduct. She represents officers and employees, as well as corporations, in internal investigations and before the Securities and Exchange Commission and Department of Justice, in connection with alleged securities frauds, including revenue recognition issues, insider trading, corruption/bribery and price-fixing violations. She also has extensive experience in the area of money laundering and related Treasury/IRS offenses, as well as in obstruction of justice investigations and prosecutions. Ms. Kane has extensive experience dealing with and minimizing the impact of grand jury investigations, but she is an equally zealous trial advocate and prepared to defend cases to a jury whenever that is the appropriate strategy.
General Criminal Defense
Ms. Kane has tried dozens of violent and property crimes, in state and federal court. She knows from years of experience how prosecutors, judges and juries approach and consider the facts of all types of crimes. She is equally versed in California State and federal procedural law, and is highly effective at negotiating and favorably resolving criminal matters before they are brought to court. Ms. Kane is an exceptional trial attorney, providing her clients with the credible threat of an effective trial defense that contributes to the best possible outcome, whether by disposition or jury. She is an aggressive advocate for individuals in state and federal court who consistently obtains exceptional results for her clients. Ms. Kane is currently a member of the Criminal Justice Act (CJA) panel of attorneys representing indigent clients facing criminal charges in the Northern District of California. In her capacity as CJA counsel, Ms. Kane has repeatedly persuaded the district court to impose sentences below the United States Attorney’s Office’s recommendation.
