What Is Fat Liberation?
Fat liberation is about reclaiming the right to exist in your body, no matter its size, and fighting against the descrimination that denies fat people most things straight sized people take for granted; from medical aid to a decent pair of jeans.
It's NOT about 'bigger is better' or 'real women have curves', it's about the human rights fat people are denied because of societal prejudice.
Fat liberation means:
-
Raising awareness of the things fat people are denied because of discrimination (jobs, education etc)
-
No more unsolicited gym advice from strangers (thanks, Karen, but I’m good).
-
The right to exist in our own bodies, and not be pre-occupied with losing weight.
-
No-one having to go into sex-work because no-one will employ them...
Miranda Kane created Club Indulge events as spaces where fat people could exist without shame or judgement. They are about loving yourself as you are and making space for all bodies to feel fabulous—because confidence doesn’t come with a dress size..
Indulge
Club Indulge Events are all about celebrating confidence, community, and self-love in a fun, welcoming space for plus-size individuals. Hosted by comedian Miranda Kane, these events provide a judgment-free zone where you can enjoy great music, dancing, and camaraderie with like-minded people. Whether you're here to party, make new friends, or embrace body positivity, Club Indulge offers a safe and supportive environment to celebrate every body, just the way it is.
We run club nights, karaoke, plus size speed dating and weekend holidays where anyone of any size is welcome.
